The Trucking Association of New York (TANY) held its fourth annual Clean Trucks event in Albany during the third week of August. Sprocket Power was among the event’s invited speakers. Maria Fields, Sprocket Power CEO, was a featured participant during Wednesday’s “Fleet Roundtable”.
Fields, along with representatives from T-Mobile and Climate Change Mitigation Technologies, discussed the challenges facing the trucking industry as fleet OEMs, operators and drivers prepare for the transition to electric vehicles. Fields highlighted the chicken and egg issue facing the industry as the high cost of vehicles is often matched by the high infrastructure costs of installing EVSE to run them. Often overlooked is the critical importance of controlling operating expenses by comprehensive management of utility costs. The benefits of advanced technology including charge management and microgrids are critical to cost control and can produce attractive investment returns for fleet operators and benefits to the NY grid.

The event was widely attended by fleet operators, government officials and sustainability groups. Plus, several E-truck manufactures, including Mack, Volvo, Peterbilt and Bollinger brought prototype vehicles for attendees to view and test drive.
In addition to Fields, Sprocket Power’s Vice President of Sales, Ben Kriegler, and Business Development Consultant, Thomas Higgins, were also in attendance at the event.
