KATONAH, NY, May 20, 2025 – Sprocket Power announces its selection as an inaugural partner of Schneider Electric’s Microgrid Flex Partner Program, a program designed to deliver the benefits of microgrids to a broad range of facilities. The collaboration between Schneider Electric and Sprocket Power is focused on the streamlined delivery of these benefits, thereby increasing market adoption and expanding value creation in the microgrid market, valued at $77 billion in 2023 and expected to grow 17% through 2030.
A microgrid is a localized group of electricity sources and loads that can operate independently from the traditional centralized grid. It’s essentially a small-scale power grid that can disconnect from the main grid and function autonomously. Microgrids are helping communities in the U.S. create a more resilient, distributed, and decarbonized electrical grid of the future. This has the potential to transform the way energy is produced and consumed.
Schneider Electric is a top microgrid integrator and distributed energy resource management systems (DERMs) provider. In North America, Schneider Electric has designed, built, and maintained more than 350 advanced microgrid projects. Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure™ Microgrid Flex is a faster, simpler, and standardized microgrid system designed to meet resilience, efficiency, and sustainability needs. This standardization substantially reduces project development time, technology integration and interconnection complexity, and engineering hours. The result reduces the complexity and cost of project development and increases return on investment.
Sprocket Power is a leader in the development and implementation of microgrids to address the challenges of electrification and high utility costs and to meet resiliency needs. Their success in developing and executing early microgrids has brought attention to the value these projects deliver to multiple stakeholders.
“We are thrilled to work with Schneider Electric on their Microgrid Flex Program,” said Maria Fields, CEO and Co-Founder of Sprocket Power. “Microgrids are deeply valuable, but potential host sites often face barriers to accessing and maximizing that value. Schneider Electric brings critical resources, a well-earned reputation, and a smart approach to opening this market, and we are looking forward to partnering with the company to deliver on this promise.”
In 2024, Schneider Electric microgrids in the United States managed more than 100 gigawatts of energy, enough to power 75 million homes. Bringing together microgrid control, electrical distribution, software, and battery storage systems, EcoStruxure Microgrid Flex removes complexity and delivers a system providing optimal energy management to ensure continuity of operations and impact on decarbonization goals. Sprocket Power will identify candidates for the Microgrid Flex system and develop projects from concept to execution and operation. This partnership marks a crucial step on the path to becoming a Certified EcoXpert Partner for Microgrids.
“Microgrids are being installed throughout the U.S. at hospitals, universities, businesses, schools, and airports, as the country’s grid experiences failures due to age and weather-related disruptions,” said Don Wingate, Vice President Sales – Strategic Customers and Solutions – New Energy Landscape at Schneider Electric. “We recognized Sprocket Power as a trailblazer in the implementation of microgrid systems. Their expertise and collaborative approach have made them an invaluable partner in advancing this dynamic and rapidly growing sector of sustainable energy.”
